How Triangle Home Guides works
Triangle Home Guides is a referral service, not a contractor. We publish plain, sourced guides to hiring home trades in the Triangle. For each trade and town we plan to pass quote requests to one company, and that company will pay us when it wins a job from a referral.
Quote requests are not open for any trade yet. We are still choosing the companies that will receive them.
Who pays us
Once requests open for a trade, the company that receives them pays us when it wins a job from one of our referrals. You will pay us nothing. Your price is agreed between you and the company, and you are free to get other quotes. Each guide will name the company it sends requests to.
How we will choose each company
Before we send a single request, we will check that the company:
- carries general liability insurance and shows us a current certificate;
- holds every North Carolina license the work requires, as the guide for that trade describes;
- gives written quotes and written contracts;
- has a public track record we can read, such as Google reviews and a Better Business Bureau profile;
- agrees to contact every homeowner within one business day.
If a company stops meeting these, we stop sending it requests.
Why one company, not several
We plan to send each request to one company rather than several at once, so your phone does not ring all afternoon. If you want more quotes, we encourage you to get them.
What we collect
- While requests are closed, this site has no forms and collects no personal details.
- We count visits with Plausible, which sets no cookies and stores no IP addresses. We also count clicks on the request buttons, by trade and town, to see which guides people want quotes from.

How the guides are written
Every rule and price on this site links to the page it came from, with the date it was checked. Where sources disagree, the guide says so. Rules change, so confirm with your town or county before you start.
